Parent Volunteers & Family Unit

Due to the Kindergarten DIBELS, Reading 3-D, math testing and baseline assessments our routines are still taking shape. We want to make sure that the kids are fully ingrained in their daily schedules before we introduce more to their day. Thank you for your patience as we get volunteering organized.   Please look for volunteer information to come home the first week of November. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work to ensure the best learning environment for your child.

Our Language Arts theme is FAMILY.  We will be learning about family for the next three weeks.  We want to display the concepts that the children are learning over the course of the unit.  In the Kindergarten hallway, we have a bulletin board that we will be filling with different images, ideas and pictures of family.  If you have a special word, picture, drawing or other item that means family to you please send it in to be displayed on the bulletin board.  As children are reading, looking at magazines or the internet at home, please have them  bring anything that they  find about family (that we can display).

Testing

Our Kindergarten Friends have jumped right in to testing and they are doing very well!  Over the next few weeks we will be testing each of our students in a one on one setting.  Students will be tested on beginning sounds, letter recognition and concepts of print.  In math, we will begin looking at number recognition and one to one correspondence.

The week of September 19th students will be taking our first NWEA test. This is a computer based test.  Each class will visit the computer lab four times (2 language arts tests and 2 math tests).  We will begin to collect information for leveled reading groups.  However, please remember this is your child's first experience with the NWEA MAP test and we will look at other information to help support this assessment.

NORTHPOINTOPOLY is in full swing. This check writing campaign is taking place of other fundraisers. PTO helps support so many wonderful programs at our school!  Please consider donating!
